Add Copy To/Move To to the Windows Explorer Right Click Menu

Pretty old but useful tweak!

A hidden functionality in Windows allows you to right click on a file, select Copy To Folder or Move To Folder, and the move to box will pop up and let you choose a location to either copy or move the file or folder to.

Here’s the quick registry hack to get this working. As usual, back up your registry just in case. You will want to browse down to this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Once you are at that key, right click and choose the New Key option:

Name the key <Copy To>

Now you will double-click on the (Default) value and enter the following:

{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}

Click OK and continue.

If you want to enable Move To, you will repeat the same steps, except creating a new key named Move To, and using this value:

{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}

The Longest Train in The World

The train from Nouadhibou to Zouerat in Mauritania is the longest train in the world. The iron ore train carry thousands of tons of crusehed rock in a chain of wagons up to three kilometres long. Their schecules and frequencies depend partly on the speed of the extraction at the mines, and even in the past, attacks by Polisario guerillas from over the border in Western Sahara.

There are 3 or 4 diesel-electric General Motors 3300V locomotives at the head of the train and about 200 cars each carrying up to 84 tons of iron ore, and a variable number of service cars. The total traffic averages 16.6 billion tons per year.

Travelers’ cars are also occasionally transported by train; these services are managed by an SNIM subsidiary, the ATTM Society (Société d’assainissement, de travaux, de transport et de maintenance). Passenger cars are sometimes attached, but more often passengers simply ride atop the ore cars.

China’s WaterWorld

Atkin’s Architecture Group recently won the first prize award for an international design competition with this stunning entry. Set in a spectacular water filled quarry in Songjiang, China, the 400 bed resort hotel is uniquely constructed within the natural elements of the quarry. Underwater public areas and guest rooms add to the uniqueness, but the resort also boasts cafes, restaurants and sporting facilities.

The lowest level runs with the aquatic theme by housing a luxurious swimming pool and an extreme sports center for activities such as rock climbing and bungee jumping which will be cantilevered over the quarry and accessed by special lifts from the water. With a stunning visual presentation as shown here, it’s no wonder this project took home the first prize. This is a fine example of an ultra modern facility co-existing amongst its natural environment.

Strangest Photos and Stories in 2006

Now is 2007, but some strange and good memories in 2006 cannot be left out just like that. Here are something interesting that I have in my mail box on New Year day.

Cellular telephones prisoners

Cellular telephones were found inside four prisoners in El Salvador’s maximum-security prison, authorities said Wednesday. The discovery was made Tuesday at the prison in Zacatecoluca, in central El Salvador, after suspicious officials took X-rays of each of the inmates, federal corrections chief Jaime Villanova said. The names of the prisoners, all members of the dangerous Mara Salvatrucha gang, were not released in order to avoid jeopardizing an ongoing investigation that began a month ago, he said. Capt. Juan Ramon Arevalo, director of the prison known as Zacatras, said the gang members had introduced the cell phones, wrapped in plastic bags, into their bodies through their anuses. Authorities also found nine cell phone chips and one charger.

Chocolate tank trap

It might sound like a chocoholic’s dream, but stepping into a vat of chocolate became a two-hour nightmare for a 21-year-old man. The man, an employee of a Kenosha company that supplies chocolate ingredients, told police he got into the tank at Debelis Corp. to unplug it and became trapped waist-deep in the chocolate. “It was pretty thick. It was virtually like quicksand,” said Police Capt. Randy Berner. Co-workers, police and firefighters tried to free the man but couldn’t get him loose until the chocolate was thinned out. Berner said the worker was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
