How To Remove Ads (AdSense) From Gmail

NOTE: Removing ads from Gmail is illegal! Do it at your own risk. Below is just for education purposes.

Gmail LogoGmail without doubt is one of the best if not the best free email service ever. You get a clean interface, tons of storages, fantastic email search (powered by Google of course), Google Docs integrations, Gmail Labs and many more. It is a true gem for me and I have been using it since its initial roll out (that is about 6 years ago).

Well, the only complain is of course the ads (AdSense) that stick to the top (sometimes) and right panel of Gmail. Those ads are not obstructive as they are not embedded directly into the email content but sometimes, they look a little bit irritating to the eyes and quite annoying.

Another Cool Digg-Like Theme for Blogger

Well, in case you guys missed this, check it out — Digg-like theme for WordPress. This post features another Digg-like theme/template, but for Blogger.com (BlogSpot) by GoogleBoy.

Although it is not as comprehensive as the WordPress one, this theme is pretty much using the same concept — digg icon as date, entry as post, etc. The only obvious different is that it is a 3–column theme.

Update Your NOD32 Virus Signature Without Username & Password

NOD32 users? Read on!

NOD32_logoThe main (official) NOD32 update server sometimes is just too slow and the worst part is, it requires an username and password. So, if you accidentally misplace/miss-configure your username and password, you are potentially exposed to threats because you can’t update your virus signature database.

Solution?

Nod32 Update

So, to your rescue, here is a list of NOD32 mirror update servers which required no username and password.

Cool Digg-Like WordPress Theme!

DigglogoThere are many Digg-like WordPress themes like this and this. None of them are really like Digg (Digg layout and styles) but this one, made by VCARS is damn real!

Digg items are posts. The Digg top right ad is replaced with Youtube video. Digg icon become post date, the thumbnail become post’s thumbnail. It is integrated with Flickr photo stream and much more with the help of additional plugins.

When Obama’s Web 2.0 Mashup Went Wrong With Addict-o-matic

I bumped onto this site — Addict-o-matic that lets users create their own mashup (news, blog posts, videos, images, tweets, etc) based on certain keywords/topics.

The Test Drive

So, instead of using my own topics I try it out with out of the hot topics — Obama. Everything looks normal from Google News to Twitter’s tweets but… I noticed something weird when I look at the images retrieved from Flickr.

Cheers Gmail: Insert Inline Image Anywhere In Your Email

Gmail-LogoI have been waiting for this feature (I bet you guys do as well!) to be made official since Gmail was born and finally Gmail now supports inline images — officially!

Previously, there are a few tweaks to put inline images in your Gmail’s email but you no longer need that now. Gmail’s got a new option in its labs section that lets users insert images directly into their e-mails, and not just as attachments.

Gmail_labs_insert_images

How to activate? Easy pie! Just turn on “Inserting images” from the Labs tab under Settings, and you’ll see a new toolbar icon beside the emoticon’s icon. Continue Reading →

Google’s Web Server and Data Center Revealed

Google_logo

Google has been running on its own servers at its own data center for some time now. So, have you ever wonder how Google’s servers and data center look like?

For the first time at Google Data Center Energy Summit, Google provided a look inside its data center operations and revealed its custom web server to the public.

Google Data Center

Google uses shipping containers to store its servers and storage. Each of these 40-foot data center containers can house up to 1,160 servers and a power consumption that can reach 250 kilowatts.
