Mozilla Firefox Tips and Shortcuts

I found this thread about Firefox tips and shortcuts very, very useful. If you are a Firefox user, these tips and shortcuts really come in handy while surfing. Here are some of them:

Tip: Double Clicking empty space on the Tab Bar will open a ‘New Tab’

Tip: Middleclick/MouseWheelClick on a Bookmark on your Personal Toolbar will open it up in a New Tab

Tip: MiddleClick/MouseWheel Click on a folder will open all the bookmarks in the folder in a new Tab(s)

Tip: holding down the Shift or Ctrl key when you RightClick to “View Image” or “View Backround Image”will open the image in a New Tab or New Window.

Tip: Unused menus or menu Items can be hidden by using the customizing your userChrome.css stylesheet

Tip: MiddleClick/MouseWheel Click on a Tab will close that Tab.

Tip: Set mutliple Home pages: Tools—->Options—>General and seperate each page with the pipe | symbol
(eg http://forums.mozillazine.org/|http://www.google.com|http://www.yahoo.com

Tip: Clear your Download history to make the download manager more responsive : Tools—->Options—>Privacy

Firefox 2.0 will Integrates Anti-phishing Technology

Firefox logoMozilla has reached the latest development milestone for its next-generation Firefox 2.0 “Bon Echo” browser with a little anti-phishing help from Google.

Anti-phishing capability, which Mozilla has branded “Safe Browsing,” is one of the marquee features in Firefox 2.0 and one of the reasons a third alpha is necessary. Now baked into Firefox 2.0 alpha 3, Google Safe Browsing is triple-licensed under the Mozilla Public License (MPL) 1.1, the GPL 2.0 and the LGLP.

Safe Browsing inspects a visited site against a regularly updated list of known phishing sites. The list of phishing sites may be downloaded automatically within the browser or can optionally be checked against Google’s online list of known miscreants. IE Internet Explorer 7 will also have a form of anti-phishing capability.
