Woooh! It’s great!

I’ve posted about a week ago that I’m hopping over to dedicated from my VPS. It’s has been a hell long week due to miscommunication with the sales guy and technicians over at midPhase.

The technician finally got my server ready at SoftLayer’s Dallas data center on 24th. There was a hiccup during the migration process, well not technical hiccup but my ticket was closed prematurely. I submitted a new ticket and the guy over there swiftly get the job done.

Ready to Go!

I’ve to wait for another day to make sure my new DNS settings to take effect and propagate well through the Internet. It should now resolve properly.

I’m feeling great with the new server, a hardcore beast machine. The loading speed of BlogIsEverything.com is faster compared to the speed when I’m on VPS. If you are a daily reader of mine, you might probably feel that too =)

It has been about a year plus now on Virtual Private Server. I start up BlogIsEverything.com with a local hosting, this was back in Dec, 2005. Then I spotted midPhase, I switch to them starting with basic shared hosting package, to VPS and now on the way to dedicated.

The people at midPhase has done incredible job to keep my satisfaction in place. Their support is awesome, they reply promptly usually no later than 15 mins. If you ask me, I’ll definitely stay with them for years to come.

2 Years Milestones.

OK, the chronology of BlogIsEverything.com hosting transformation:

1. Dec 2005: Hive Hosting (local) – Shared Hosting.
2. May 2006: AnHosting (midPhase) – Shared Hosting.
3. Nov 2006: midPhase – Silver VPS.
4. Jul 2007: midPhase – Gold VPS.
5. Sep 2007: Autica (midPhase) – Gold VPS Pro (up. RAM).
6. Sep 2008: 10tb (midPhase) – SimpleServer NS01 Dedicated.

Welcome Dedicated!

The current switch to 10tb dedicated server will definitely last for years, it is at least 10x more powerful than Autica Gold VPS Pro. I will have plenty of RAM, HD and bandwidth to spare.

The Specs…

Beast machine! My dedicated server is super powerful. Powered by Quad Core Xeon 3220 (2.4Ghz), 4GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, 1,000GB bandwidth and 1,000Mbps GigE port transfer!

My dedicated server will be backed by SoftLayer as standard for dedicated hosting and hosted at SoftLayer Dallas data center.

More to Come…

Over the past 2 days, I’ve been working on my “new” BlogIsEverything.com. I’ve upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 and re-tweak almost all the plugins and made some layout changes (you might noticed changes at the sidebar, post meta (rating, etc) and some other parts.

The layout is now 100% “visible” on IE7 as well as Firefox 2.

Those are the positives…the negative however, I need to retag all my 702 posts! and also make some changes to the content of certain posts (broken content posts).

My spam guards are up and running, basically still with Akismet and reCAPTCHA and now I installed Deadbolt to prevent spam user registration using bot.

Everything should be up and running by end of next week.

Well, I’ve been ‘struggling’ with these two local (Asia-Malaysia) blog advertising networks, Advertlets and Nuffnang. They don’t work well with BlogIsEverything.com.

I’ve just upgarded my Wordpress to the latest stable version 2.2.1. After a few runs, I’ve fixed some old plugins.

After a few posts, I noticed something strange – not my usual blogging style. I used to have the ‘Preview Pane’ right below the ‘Edit Pane’ but to my suprise, in Wordpress 2.2, that pane was removed in favour of a preview link.

I do a little search, and found this very useful plugin (Preview Frame) by Rob Miller. Great, great plugin Rob!
