Wired: “Zuckerberg Keynote Descends Into Chaos”
Mark Zuckerberg sat down tonight to what was expected to be a calm civilized interview by Sarah Lacy. But what he got was an intense audience that some describe as a “train wreck”.
Zuckerberg, the founder of the popular social networking site, Facebook, had all eyes on him in the soon to be awkward conversation. Lacy started off with her recognizable friendly day to day conversation with Zuckerberg, but soon found her way into a failed attempt at chipping away his wall of public defense. Still failing to stray away from the common question and answer sessions Lacy found her away into awkward situations with the audience growing tenser by the minute.
One audience member even went as far as yelling, “Talk about something interesting,”the remark was met with waves of cheering and applause.
Lacy starting to lose all hope, and the audience was on the verge of impeaching her. More shouts were made and Lacy looked for a way out by pointing her microphone towards the audience in final desperation. The stage was soon full of excitement and and onslaught of questions. People were rushing to the microphone to speak their minds on the topics of: privacy, data portability, the future of Facebook, and what tools where being developed to protect and manage to ever growing website.
Lacy now realizing her position in what was once a peaceful interview was over and now demoted herself to moderator.
Zuckerberg seeing the shift of power resorted back to the private man we all know too well. Repeating himself through out most of the interview. He too must of gotten frustrated because he reminded Lacy of her position saying, “You’re supposed to ask questions”.
Hard to believe, but some question were answered. Such as the confirmation on Yahoo’s 1 billion dollar bid for Facebook. Also his thoughts on Beacon, Facebook’s advertising platform. Zuckerberg admitted to getting a little ahead of themselves.
It was an interesting night in Austin, Texas it will be hard to say what Lacy’s job position will be tomorrow. One thing is certain, this will not be the last we hear about this interview.

An interesting article. I wonder how long Facebook will remain independent, I don’t think that price will be on offer forever as there are many up and coming Social Media web sites and who knows where Yahoo will be tomorrow?
