How to Get a New IP Address Even If You Have a Static IP

This is quite interesting, get it from a forum, and credits go to Mojojojojo. Just follow these simple steps below, to get a new IP address even you have a static/fixed IP!

This trick is very useful for those who cannot use this method because the have static IP address.

To start off, you need a direct connection to your modem and computer. If you have a router, disconnect it and directly hook up your modem to your computer.

1. Open up the command prompt by pressing Start->Run and typing in cmd

2. In the command prompt, type “Ipconfig/all”. This will tell you your current IP Address. After, type “ipconfig/release”. Keep the command prompt open for easy access.

3. Go to “Network Connections” (accessible through the control panel). Right click “Local Area Connection” and click “Properties”

4. With “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) selected, click the “Properties” button.

5. A new window will open. Under the “General” tab, select “Use the Following IP address”. Under “Ip Address”, put “10.0.0.1″. Press the “Tab” key on your keyboard.

6. Press Ok on both open windows.

7. Repeat steps 3-4. Under the “General” tab, press the radio button “Automatically Assign Me an Ip Address”. Press ok on both windows.

8. Go back to the command prompt and type in “Ipconfig/all”. You’ll now notice you have a new IP address.

So, this will be handy if you want to by-pass Rapidshare 1 hour download limit, provided that you have a static IP address.

Radio Buttons are the buttons that you can click on that are circular. After you click on these buttons a small black dot will appear in the middle of them :) . In a way it is like a Checkbox but Radio Buttons only allow 1 selected in a group. I hope this Helps

I got kicked off eBay for something REALLY stupid! Now I can’t get a new account because of my IP address. If I do these steps, will they be able to detect that its me? Or because I got a completely new IP address they won’t be able to? I’m not that good with computers so it would be great if someone could answer this for me. Thanks a lot!

    =)

I’m just curious… But I was, I shall use the term loosely, ‘banned’ from a site… Like I see before me, people are having the same question over and over… I’m just here to help solidify the claims… Is it possible, if I do this, that my internet protocol address will be ideally different from the one that was banned? Please get back to me ASAP… I would like to know…

    cmd.exe – ipconfig /release – exit

leave it like that overnight, when you return to your computer in the morning:

    cmd.exe – ipconfig /renew – exit

you should have a new IP address

It can be done much simpler:
at the command prompt type ipconfig/release
    enter
    then type ipconfig/renew
VOILA same result, in 2 steps :P

Whoever wrote this has no idea how IP addresses work. You have a local IP that your computer uses to talk to your network with, and an outside IP that your router uses to connect with the rest of the world. That’s what a router does … translates the outside IP to the internal IP’s in your local network. The above process will change your LOCAL network IP, it won’t change the IP your router uses to go out on the Internet with. It only appears to work for some because the process, as it’s spelled out, resets the router, causing the outside IP to be refreshed. You could do exactly the same thing by powering down the modem and router without messing with your network settings at all. However … some Internet providers will reassign exactly the same outside IP on a reset, and some require a specific one to connect at all. If you don’t have a router and connect directly to the modem, then your inside and outside IP are the same, but resetting the modem alone will change it unless the provider requires a specific IP (in which case, you are out of luck in any case).
