How to Soft Reboot Your PC (Windows)
Here is a nifty little trick that safe you from doing a hard or physical reboot. You are about to find how to reboot the system fast and lesser “pain” without pressing the reset button, by simply pressing a couple of “magic” buttons.
Windows Crashed!
I bet you had experienced a situation where your computer suddenly crashes and after terminating a few running programs, the situation is still the same. Same here!
Easy Solution…
OK, this is how to soft reboot you Windows.
- Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to bring up Windows Task Manager.
- Go to Processes tab, look for explorer.exe and end this process.
- Now (at menu), go to File > New Task (Run…) and type in “explorer.exe“. By doing this you are actually (re)starting Windows Explorer.

[Reboot Windows Explorer]
This should get you system back to normal for most of the time. Please note that, for some hardcore Windows crashes… the CTRL + ALT + DEL will not function and as such, pyhsical reboot is unavoidable.
