Box.net Alternative: Between Work And The Office (BWATO)
Looking for online file storage and sharing service BUT not Box.net? Between Work And The Office or in short BWATO is one of the best alternative. I have received emails from readers asking me about this (alternative), so here you go.
Between Work And The Office, what? I know, the name is pretty long and complicated (that is why acronym BWATO came about) but trust me, their service is much more simple and easy to use.
You might be wondering how BWATO differs from Box.net. Basically both of them pretty much alike – securely upload and share all types of files from documents to videos plus online, on-the-go documents editing. The one thing that Box.net doesn’t have while BWATO has is Microsoft Outlook integration.

[BWATO file manager]
Imagine that how convenient it is to upload (backup) your Outlook contacts from Microsoft Outlook in seconds. On top of that, you also can upload your to-do. So you have access to your contacts and to-do tasks easily from home (or anywhere).
So, basically, there are three account plans – free, premium ($9.99/m) and elite ($15.99/m). All of these accounts come with these features:
- Customer support via email
- Upload Outlook contacts
- Upload Outlook to-do tasks
- Online documents editing
- No restricted upload size
The storage size for free account however is 100MB, I wish they could allocated more spaces for free users. For premium and elite accounts, the storage space is 10GB and 20GB respectively. Besides that, free account will be served advertisements while premium and elite don’t.
Note: You can try premium or elite account for free for 30 days. Demo videos available here.
So overall, I’m very happy with what BWATO can offer. Definitely a good alternative to Box.net if you ask me.
Feel free to try out: betweenworkandtheoffice.com

Nice Post Matt,
Another online storage tool that you might like is DocLanding. It is great for work between the office and home, it is geared towards small businesses and entrepreneurs. Beyond the tools listed above DocLanding also offers versioning, document annotation, controlled (timed) sharing and it is compliant (HIPPA, SEC, and more). It is nice if you need to share sensitive documents without paying for a courier.
Check out a free account at http://www.doclanding.com,
Keep up the great posts,
Will

Hi Will,
DocLanding looks fantastic for documents sharing. I’ll review through that later when I’ve the time.
Thanks again for the tip!

The thing I noticed about DocLanding is it’s lack of features that BetweenWorkAndTheOffice.com has. It has no ability to send unlimited size files to anyone.
Betweenworkandtheoffice.com has the ability to allow you to anonymously upload files to a users account. Great for real estate when you have an assistent.
It also allows you to send a link of a huge file to someone, then that person clicks on the link and retrieves the file easily.
It seems that doclanding is a cheap imitation of bwato.com (betweenworkandtheoffice.com) without all the great features.
