Joost Getting Juicer, Now Purely Web-Based

I’ve been “out of touch” with Joost for quite some time now. I was one of the few early ones to get to try the then desktop-based Joost. I was like, oh great… I can watch TV online, finally!
The Early Joost
The then Joost (beta) was based on invites and every one was like craving and begging for an invite. I had given out quite a number to my readers.

But well, the popularity starts to decline after few months of hype. Online, web-based video streaming services like YouTube and Metacafe start to take over and eventually Joost is blurred from the public.
I, myself had made the switch too. People don’t really bother about getting “live” streaming videos or movies, they can watch it few hours late from websites like YouTube. What people wanted is simplicity – open the browser and watch directly without the need of 3rd party software.
That is what I want, and I bet you want that too.
So…
The “New” Joost
Joost is now download-free! As of 14 Oct, Joost is purely web-based, finally! I’ve got its newsletter and was surprised but not stunned. A wise move I should say.

The new Joost has social networking features ready. Kinda similar to many video streaming websites, you can shout or comment, vote, add friends, join or create group and stuff like that.

From their blog updates, I can see that Joost team had put in a lot of work to deliver more valuable content. They got great amount of good videos and increasing from day to day.
Kudos Joost!
