Exploit: Turn On Your PC Two Times Faster

Warning:
- This exploit involves changing your registry value. So, make sure you are clear of what you are doing.
- I tried this tweak on my Windows XP, not sure about Vista (You guys might want to give it a try and share the feedback here).
OK, let’s do it!
Before we start, it is recommended you turn off XP Indexing Service first. LifeHacker can guide you on this.
So…
First off open your registry editor by Run… > “regedit“.
Browse and locate this key:
HKEY_LOACAL_MECHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex
No locate the value “StartupDelay“, double-click to open its property. Select “Decimal” and change the default value of 480000 to 40000. You can go below 40000, say 30000, 5000, or even 100 at your own risk. I’ve not tested it myself. (Maybe you guys want to give me a feedback on this too)
Close registry editor and restart your PC. You should experience a significant boost to your startup speed. I’ve mine doubled.

You are on Vista?
Comment by bai3tzash »
Nope, XP with SP3
What you see is just a little theme, not Vista.

Hi bai3tzash,
From what I know, they key is missing from Vista, and perhaps it is also missing from the SP3 update.
It is said that the startup speed in Vista/SP3 has been enhanced.
